What Is Soft Geometry in Eyewear?

Dr. Erika Morrow, Author

soft geometry eyewear at Forsight

When I talk about soft geometry, I’m talking about frames that go beyond a basic round or rectangular shape. They may have a sharper upper line, a more sculpted silhouette, or subtle angles that give the frame more presence.

The keyword there is subtle.

A softly geometric frame still feels approachable. It might have a rounded lens shape with a more architectural browline. It might have a squarer shape with softened corners. It might feel artistic without looking harsh. That balance is what makes this category so interesting!

The right shape can add just enough structure to feel distinctive while still being flattering and easy to wear. That’s especially true for people who want more shape and personality without overwhelming their features. A soft geometric frame can bring presence and dimension while still feeling balanced on the face.

Why Shape Matters So Much

A lot of people focus on color first when they try on glasses, which makes sense. Color is often the first thing you notice.

But shape is what changes the whole conversation.

Shape affects how a frame sits on the face, how it balances your features, and how much personality it brings to your overall look. Sometimes a patient tries on a frame in a beautiful color, but the silhouette does not quite do them justice. Other times, the shape is so good that it instantly makes everything click.

That is why styling matters so much.

At ForSight, we’re always paying attention to proportion, fit, and the way a frame interacts with someone’s features. We want patients to leave feeling confident in glasses that feel like themselves.

Why We Love TAVAT for This Look

TAVAT is an independent, family owned eyewear company based in the foothills of the Dolomites, with each frame produced in small batches by artisans in Northern Italy.

The collection we brought in includes frames with sculpted lines, softened angles, and rich color stories that make the geometry feel even more dimensional. What I appreciate most is that these frames don’t rely on excess. The lines are intentional. The shapes have presence. And that kind of restraint can be incredibly chic!

They’re also a wonderful option for patients with petite features. So often, smaller faces have to choose between proportion and personality. These styles do a beautiful job of offering both!

A Few TAVAT Looks I Love

Some styles feel a little more intellectual and artful. Others feel cleaner and more architectural. Some have a softness that makes them especially easy to wear, while others bring a little more edge through color or silhouette.

That’s what makes shape driven eyewear so fun. It gives you options!

If you tend to wear simpler clothing, a frame with soft geometry can do a lot of the styling work for you. If you already enjoy fashion and personal style, it can become one of the most expressive pieces you put on every day.
