Ortho-Keratology

ForSight Unique Eye Care & Eye Wear, takes pride in offering state-of-the-art vision care services such as orthokeratology or “Ortho-k” for short.

Also referred to as Corneal Refractive Therapy (CRT) or Gentle Vision Shaping System (GVSS) this revolutionary method is able to correct your eyes back to perfect vision simply by wearing a reshaping contact lens during sleeping hours. At night, the contact lenses correct the curvature of your corneas so that in the morning you can remove the lenses and see perfectly throughout the day without wearing glasses. This is even better news for children dealing with myopia (nearsightedness) as studies have shown that Ortho-k reduces the progression of myopia.

Dr. Erika Morrow and the ForSight team are the Low Country’s Go To Doctor for Ortho-K

Dr. Morrow has spent many years perfecting and gaining more knowledge on myopia control. With multiple certifications in CRT lens designs, Dr. Morrow is sure to provide you with the most customized lens to provide the highest level of success.

Helping Patients See Better Through Advanced Orthokeratology

Wouldn’t it be great to be able to see clearly and get rid of your thick eyeglasses without having to undergo eye surgery? With our services for Orthokeratology in Savannah, Georgia and the Low Country, you definitely can. Here at ForSight Unique Eye Care & Eye Wear our highly skilled doctor will fit your eyes with special contact lenses that you wear overnight. These lenses are specifically designed to correct your eyes and improve your vision.

While you sleep the lenses will gently and painlessly reshape your cornea, temporarily correcting the prescription that causes blurry vision. The correction is not permanent so your eyes will go back to their original prescription if you stop wearing the overnight lenses.

The cornea, the clear dome shaped surface of your eyeball, is soft and malleable. It helps focus light toward the back of our eye and onto our back lining of the eye called the retina. If your cornea does not focus light properly this results in blurry vision which we diagnose either as myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and/or astigmatism (different curvatures – like a football instead of a basketball).

Much like a retainer helps to straighten your teeth, we custom design our retainer contact lenses to “straighten” out the curvature of your cornea while you sleep. This allows your eyes to focus light properly so that you get a crisp image without having to wear corrective eye wear while you are awake. This innovative solution can also slow down the progression of myopia in children ultimately leaving them with a lower prescription for the rest of their lives.
