Boston, Big Ideas, and a BIG Honor: The Best Eye Doctor in Savannah

Continuing education is an important part of providing modern eye care, and sometimes the best ideas come from stepping outside the practice. Recently, Shara, Mariel, Melissa, Katie, and I packed our bags and headed to Boston for a few days for several days of inspiration! The trip gave us an opportunity to explore new ideas in patient care, eyewear, technology, and the overall experience we create for the people who visit our Savannah practice. It was also a chance to spend time together as a team, share ideas outside of our usual routine, and think intentionally about where we want ForSight to continue growing.

We returned to Savannah energized, inspired, and with plenty of ideas about how we can make an already personal approach to eye care even better.

Why Continuing Education Matters for Our Patients

Eye care continues to evolve, from the technology used during comprehensive eye exams to the ways doctors diagnose and manage vision and eye health concerns. ForSight has never been interested in adopting something simply because it is new; we want to understand whether it actually helps us provide more thoughtful, personalized care. Conferences and professional events give us the opportunity to ask questions, compare approaches, and learn how other independent practices are solving challenges that patients experience every day. Ultimately, the value of that education is what we are able to bring back to our patients here in Savannah.

For patients, that can show up in many different ways. It may mean finding better ways to explain what we see during an eye exam, discovering technology that can help us evaluate eye health more thoroughly, or refining the way we guide someone through their lens and eyewear options. It can also mean improving smaller details that make a visit feel more comfortable, organized, and personal.

Remember, great eye care is not only about helping every patient understand their vision, but to feel confident asking questions, and leave knowing that their care was designed around them!

Learning From the Independent Eye Care Community

One of the most valuable parts of our Boston trip was having the opportunity to connect with other professionals who are equally passionate about independent optometry. Independent practices have the freedom to be intentional about how they care for patients, and that independence allows practices like ForSight to focus less on a one-size-fits-all model and more on what actually makes sense for the individuals and families we serve. Spending time with other practice owners and eye care professionals gives us a chance to exchange ideas, learn from one another, and see how different approaches can improve the patient experience.

Those conversations often become the starting point for changes we can thoughtfully adapt for our own Savannah community. Every practice and every patient population is different. What works well somewhere else may not be right for ForSight, which is why we take the time to evaluate new ideas rather than simply following trends. Our goal is to bring back the concepts that support what we already believe in: taking our time, listening carefully, offering individualized recommendations, and creating an eye care experience that feels comfortable rather than rushed.

Fresh Ideas in Eyewear and the Patient Experience

The learning does not stop with clinical eye care. Eyewear is also an important part of what makes the ForSight experience unique, and staying connected to the broader optical community helps us continue offering frames and lenses that go beyond the ordinary. We are always looking for thoughtful design, excellent craftsmanship, and independent brands that give our patients more choices than they might find in a traditional optical setting.

An International Honor for the ForSight Team

Our trip became even more memorable when ForSight Unique Eye Care & Eye Wear was named International Team of the Year! Receiving that recognition was an incredible honor, especially because the strength of ForSight has always come from the people behind it. Every member of our team contributes to the experience our patients have. Being recognized as a team reflects something we work hard to create every day: an environment where people genuinely care about both the quality of the work and the people we are doing it for. It was a proud moment for all of us and one that we were excited to bring home to Savannah!

A Little Boston Fun Along the Way

Of course, the trip was not all conference rooms and note-taking. We made time to enjoy Boston together, including a Red Sox game, a Boston Duck Tour, great food, and the chance to explore a city many of us do not get to visit often. Spending that time together outside the practice gave us an opportunity to relax, laugh, and strengthen the relationships that carry over into how we work together back home. A team that communicates well and genuinely enjoys working together creates a better environment not only for one another, but also for the patients walking through the door. Some of our favorite memories from the trip had nothing to do with eye care, but they still became part of what made the experience valuable.
