August marked a special milestone for ForSight Unique Eye Care & Eye Wear: seven years in Savannah!
I opened ForSight in August 2019 with a vision of creating something different: an eye care experience that felt personal, community-rooted, and full of personality. From the beginning, ForSight was never meant to be just another place to get an eye exam or buy glasses. It was built to be part of Savannah.
This August, we celebrated that story with our 7th Birthday Sweet Social Frame Show, featuring full collections from KREWE and TAVAT, sweet treats, local pop-ups, birthday savings, and the patients and friends who have made the past seven years so meaningful.
To our patients, our team, our friends, and everyone who has supported us through referrals, reviews, appointments, frame shows, fundraisers, and everyday encouragement: thank you. Savannah has been such an important part of ForSight’s story, and we are so grateful to be part of this community.
In honor of seven years in a city we love, we’re keeping the celebration going with seven Savannah events and local happenings worth putting on your September calendar!
When: Every Saturday, 9 AM–1 PM
Where: South end of Forsyth Park
There are few better ways to start a Savannah Saturday than with a walk through the Forsyth Farmers’ Market!
Held every Saturday at the south end of Forsyth Park, the market brings together local farmers, food makers, bakers, and vendors from around the region. You can find fresh produce, pastured meats, local honey, artisan dairy and cheeses, breads, baked goods, prepared foods, and plenty of reasons to linger under the trees.
It’s one of those Savannah routines that feels good every time: grab a coffee, bring your ForSight tote, and stroll the park. ForSight has always believed in supporting local businesses and makers, and the Forsyth Farmers’ Market makes it easy to spend a Saturday doing exactly that!
Tybee Island Labor Day Beach Bash
When: September 5–6, 2026
Where: Tybee Island Pier & Pavilion
If you are not quite ready to say goodbye to summer, Tybee Island is giving Savannah one more reason to head for the coast.
The Tybee Island Labor Day Beach Bash is scheduled for September 5–6, 2026 at the Tybee Island Pier & Pavilion. The two-night celebration includes free live music starting at 7 PM, beach fun, and fireworks after dark on Sunday, September 6.
It’s family-friendly, free to attend, and an easy coastal outing from Savannah. Whether you go for the music, the beach walk, the fireworks, or one last summer evening by the water, this is a great way to kick off September.
And if you’re heading to Tybee for the afternoon, don’t forget the sunglasses! ForSight’s Savannah sunglasses guide is a good place to start if your current pair is not cutting it.
An Evening With Alan Taylor
When: September 10, 2026, 7–8 PM
Where: St. Paul’s Lutheran Church
One of my favorite things about Savannah is how much of its history remains part of everyday life.
On September 10, the Georgia Historical Society is hosting An Evening With Alan Taylor at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Taylor, a historian and author, will be inducted as the 2026 Vincent J. Dooley Distinguished Teaching Fellow, followed by a discussion of his scholarship and publications. The evening will also include a book signing.
For anyone who loves history, culture, and thoughtful conversation, this is one of September’s standout events. It’s also a reminder that Savannah is more than a beautiful place to live and visit. It’s a city with stories that continue to shape how we understand the past.
When: September 17, 2026
Where: Fort Pulaski National Monument
On Thursday, September 17, Fort Pulaski National Monument is offering free entry in celebration of Constitution Day.
Normal visiting hours are listed as 9 AM to 5 PM, making this a great opportunity to explore one of the historic sites surrounding Savannah. Whether you’re bringing family, meeting a friend, or just looking for a reason to spend part of the day outside, Fort Pulaski is an easy and meaningful September outing.
It’s an easy way to spend part of the day exploring another piece of the history surrounding Savannah.
When: September 18–20, 2026
Main location: Forsyth Park
Few things feel more quintessentially Savannah than music, community, and an evening under the trees in Forsyth Park.
The Savannah Jazz Festival returns September 18–20, bringing free performances and a full weekend of music to the city. Forsyth Park is the centerpiece, with the kind of outdoor festival atmosphere that makes Savannah feel especially alive: music, food, neighbors, visitors, and plenty of reasons to stay a little longer.
This is one of September’s biggest local happenings and a favorite for anyone who loves live music. Bring a chair, check the schedule before you go, and make a weekend of it!
When: September 19, 2026 at 7:30 PM
Where: Lucas Theatre for the Arts
For an evening that leans a little more dressed-up, opening night at the Lucas is one to put on the calendar.
The Savannah Philharmonic opens its 2026–27 season on Saturday, September 19 with The Planets at the Lucas Theatre for the Arts. The program includes Grofé’s Grand Canyon Suite and Holst’s The Planets, with the Savannah Philharmonic Chorus.
At ForSight, we have always loved the places where design, creativity, and community meet. This is a beautiful date-night option, a strong pick for performing arts lovers, and another reminder of how much art and culture Savannah has to offer.
When: Sunday, September 27, 2026, 1–4 PM
Where: Daffin Park
Peace in the Park is scheduled for Sunday, September 27 at Daffin Park. Hosted by The Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire, the event is a free community celebration focused on peace, unity, healing, and connection.
The afternoon includes live entertainment, Peacebuilder Awards, a Peace Walk, a Human Peace Sign, youth activities, a Community Resource Village, food trucks, and family-friendly programming.
I have always believed in showing up beyond the exam room, whether through hiring local, supporting Savannah nonprofits and businesses, or participating in community events. Savannah is at its best when people come together, and Peace in the Park is a beautiful way to spend the last Sunday of September.
Seven years ago, ForSight opened its doors in Savannah. Since then, this city has become more than the place where we work. It’s where we have grown, celebrated, connected, fundraised, styled frames, cared for patients, and built relationships that mean the world to us.
Our relationship with Savannah extends far beyond the exam room. It shows up in the local businesses we support, the nonprofits we care about, the community events we participate in, and the patients who continue to choose ForSight year after year.
As September begins, I hope this list gives you a few reasons to get out, support local, enjoy the city, and make a few more Savannah memories of your own.
